چکیده

The North American oak lace bug (OLB), Corythucha arcuata, is an invasive species in Europe and a serious threat to oak-dominated forests. Survival at low temperatures one major factor determining the spread of insects. Thus, we studied key traits, that is, cold-tolerance strategy, supercooling points (SCP) chilling-related mortality, overwintering adults assess their potential withstand harsh winters. Samples for SCP measurements were collected once month from November 2020 until March 2021 three different locations Hungary; specimens chilling experiments sampled 2020, January 2021. SCPs ranged −29.68 −7.49 °C, with only moderate variation among months; C. arcuata freeze-avoidant species. Mortality rates exposed two sub-zero above (−3 −5 °C) 1, 2 3 weeks between 0% 69.1%, suggesting OLB has risk die injuries. Exposure time sampling date affected lowest survival after weeks,

Tolerance to High Temperature Extremes in an Invasive Lace Bug, Corythucha ciliata (Hemiptera: Tingidae), in Subtropical China

Biological invasions are predicted to be more frequent as climate change is increasing its positive impact on the prevalence of invasive exotic species. Success of insect invaders in different temperature zones is closely related to their tolerance to temperature extremes. In this study, we used an exotic lace bug (Corythucha ciliata) as the study organism to address the hypotheses that an inse...

Sequencing and Characterization of the Invasive Sycamore Lace Bug Corythucha ciliata (Hemiptera: Tingidae) Transcriptome

The sycamore lace bug, Corythucha ciliata (Hemiptera: Tingidae), is an invasive forestry pest rapidly expanding in many countries. This pest poses a considerable threat to the urban forestry ecosystem, especially to Platanus spp. However, its molecular biology and biochemistry are poorly understood. This study reports the first C. ciliata transcriptome, encompassing three different life stages ...

Feeding Injury of the Azalea Lace Bug (Heteroptera: Tingidae)1

J. Entomol. Sci. 35(3): 213-219 (July 2000) Abstract Azalea lace bug, Stephanitis pyrioides (Scott), feeding rates were investigated in controlled laboratory bioassays. Individual newly-eclosed nymphs were transferred to cut stems of 'Girard's Rose' azaleas and maintained at either 20°C for 26°C for the duration of their lifetimes. Feeding rates, determined using computer assisted image area an...

Identification of an Alarm Pheromone-Binding Chemosensory Protein From the Invasive Sycamore Lace Bug Corythucha ciliata (Say)

The spread of the exotic insect pest sycamore lace bug Corythucha ciliata (Say) is increasing worldwide. The identification of behaviorally active compounds is crucial for reducing the current distribution of this pest. In this study, we identified and documented the expression profiles of genes encoding chemosensory proteins (CSPs) in the sycamore lace bug to identify CSPs that bind to the ala...

Effects of Temperature on the Development and Population Growth of the Sycamore Lace Bug, Corythucha ciliata

The sycamore lace bug, Corythucha ciliata (Say) (Hemiptera: Tingidae), is an important invasive exotic pest of Platanus (Proteales: Platanaceae) trees in China. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of temperature on C. ciliata in the laboratory so that forecasting models based on heat accumulation units could be developed for the pest. Development and fecundity of C. ciliata...
